The first part of this presentation will focus on Regional Growth Management. Regional Growth Management in large metropolitan areas comprising numerous independent municipalities is the newest challenge to addressing sprawl by enactment of regional planning frameworks that compel municipalities to harmonize their individual official plans to be consistent with a rational Regional Growth Strategy. This presentation will provide an integrated c comparative look at three different models of Regional Growth Management legislation in Florida, Georgia, and British Columbia. The second part of this presentation will switch gears and discuss the important pending Supreme Court case, Murr v. Wisconsin, which will address the parcel as a whole rule. This presentation will also discuss other takings cases of national importance and the development of statutory protection of property rights
